Richard Baake about his Maestro CX

Beside maize and sugar beet, the machine is also used as a single grain seed drill to sow rape. Due to the cultivation of sugar beet, the row spacing amounts to 45 cm. Richard uses the Maestro to sow rape to “benefit from the embedding advantages” to ensure a safe emergence even in extremely dry conditions. Other advantages are e.g. the trash wheels that reduce the amount of straw in the row and also the fact that underground fertiliser is applied together with the seed to “make use of the advantages of the higher efficiency to compensate for the increased nutrient costs”.

The machine is equipped with SectionControl which starting next year is to be used for a site-specific cultivation and it is extremely fuel-saving.

It was a “rather spontaneous” decision to buy the Maestro CX. Three factors were crucial:

  • Twin tyres to put the tyre pressure between the rows when sowing sugar beet
  • Full ISOBUS connection as the farm works site-specifically and with application maps
  • AutoForce as a ready-to-use and fully integrated system
