AgVision Farm Practical field days
The HORSCH AgVision Field Days took place over a period of two weeks and was an event from farmers for farmers. Since 2007 the popular Practical Field Days have been organized regularly in Germany and we replicated this for our North American customers. From July 17 - 26, 2018 the doors at Downs were open for sales partners, customers and interested farmers in Downs, Illinois.
The experience at Horsch AgVision consists of a 160-acre farm and event center with a series of test plots showcasing proven global cropping techniques. We highlighted different farming practices from a global perspective and related how they are beneficial to North American farmers. The test plots proved tillage and planting concepts with our machines with a hands-on approach, will be an on-going project in showcasing many crop rotations, and will focus on practical integration of cover crops. Plots will be planted with different technologies and will be best served as a proving ground to customers for Horsch planting, seeding, tillage and spraying concepts and prototypes. Crops this season included Corn, Soybeans, Canola, Sugar Beets and a series of cover crops.
The program was as follows:
- Specialized presentations on different topics: integrating cover crops, controlled traffic, using different crop rotations, global market and trends, and future HORSCH innovations.
- Catered lunch
- Field tour lead by Farm Manager, Daniel Fulton
- Machine demonstrations in the field
In total we had a great turnout of attendees for the first year of the field days which spanned two weeks and are planning for a larger total number next year. The response from the customers was very positive and interactive. Home location of visitors to name a few came from Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Canada. As well as Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, North and South Dakota, and Minnesota in the United States.
