Automatic coulter pressure control

AutoForce – Why an automatic coulter pressure regulation?

  • In stony soils, more coulter pressure is required to place the grains at an equal depth. If the coulter pressure is too low, the coulter body would not run smoothly, and the grains germinate irregularly and at a different speed.
  • Light sites or pressure-sensitive soils need less coulter pressure so that the soil is not compacted. Too much coulter pressure compacts the soil, slows down root development – although all grains are placed at the same depth.
  • There rarely are homogenous fields. The coulter pressure has to be adjusted in every section of the field.
  • This is the reason why HORSCH developed the automatic coulter pressure control.

How does AutoForce work?

  • The working width of the machine can be divided into 1, 2 or 4 sections.
  • The pressure is measured with a sensor at the two support wheels.
  • The system controls the pressure of the cylinders at the parallelogram and regulates in such a way that the weight on the support wheels is always the same. This is due to the design of the Maestro where weight is transferred to the seed bar.
  • The coulter automatically varies between 150 kg and 350 kg.
