Small country – large market

GVS new HORSCH sales partner in Switzerland

Farming in Switzerland - one thinks of cows on alpine pastures, but also of high subsidies and producer prices. However, with an increasing opening towards the world market the conditions in Switzerland have become “more normal“.

Farming is done in the whole of Switzerland

In Switzerland farming is mostly done in the midland which is situated in the cantons Lucerne, Aargau, Solothurn, Bern, Fribourg and Vaud. In the north west and north it is limited by the Jura mountain range, in the south by the Alps. The prevailing type of soil is parabrown earth, at higher altitudes brown earth. The main cultures are wheat, barley, maize as well as potatoes and sugar beet. But it would be unwise to concentrate exclusively on this region. Except for the high alpine regions, there is farming in the whole of Switzerland.

GVS is now our second partner for the Swiss market

This is the reason why in addition to our previous sales partner we now have a second partner for the Swiss market – the GVS Agrar based in Schaffhausen. The advantage of this new partner: Via a network of local dealers HORSCH products will be present nationwide in the whole of Switzerland.

Their product range also include Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra. Additionally, they have an own brand for agriculture machines and equipment. “HORSCH fits in very well“, says Traugott Horsch, who within the management board is responsible for the Swiss market. „GVS’s strategy is a premium single brand strategy. We are sure that this will have extremely positive consequences especially when counselling customers.“ Traugott Horsch estimates that among them will be many contractors. „Up to now we have mainly sold Pronto 3 DC in Switzerland, but I also see potential for Terrano FX, Joker, Tiger AS, Express and, of course, Maestro.“

GVS Agrar is completely responsible for sales including the storage of spare parts. The responsible employees of the sales and service department have already been trained at Sitzenhof.
