Pronto DC – the universal seed drill made by HORSCH (I)

Average reading time: 4 min

How a new era of precise sowing began

With the product launch in 2003 HORSCH set new standards in the sector of universal seed drills. The precise sowing quality combined with high operational speeds was convincing right from the start. Since that time the Pronto DC has been very popular all over the world. Especially in the northern hemisphere – from North America over the whole of Europe to Russia and China – efficiency and precision are the key success factors. Wherever the Pronto is used it demonstrates its skills on the most different soils under most different conditions with operational speeds up to 20 km/h.

What are the features that make the Pronto this successful?

The question can be answered quite easily by means of two aspects. On the one hand, the Pronto can be used on soils which have been prepared quite differently. Thus, a safe emergence is guaranteed with mulch seed as well as after a plough or after intensely mixing passes. On the other hand, the Pronto DC can sow a wide range of crops. Beside the traditional crops like rape, wheat or barley, farmers also sow spelt, grass, catch crops and even legumes like field beans or soybeans with one and the same machine.

Insofar as wear and operator convenience are concerned the HORSCH Pronto DC scores, too. Maintenance-free bearing spots guarantee a safe use even in most difficult conditions. A simple, safe and quick adjustment process increases the user’s comfort.

Universal but still individual

This is particularly true with regard to the different equipment versions, hopper and coulter versions as well as the many other special additional options the Pronto line offers and that will be described in detail in the course of our blog series. Depending on the requirements of the customer the machine can be set up from more than 50 different equipment versions.

Pronto DC – popular among the farmers

The low horsepower requirement of the machine is due to the frame design and the resulting low empty weight which in turn has a positive effect on the traction force and, thus, on the diesel consumption of the tractor.

The Pronto principle that creates equal conditions for each seed coulter and, thus, for every grain guarantees a precise seed placement and a uniform work pattern. There will be more information in part II of our series.

Here you will find all information about the machine.
