HORSCH: 25th anniversary
Horsch: 25 years and the anniversary celebration in retrospect
Anniversary book "Moment mal" (Just a moment)25 years of Horsch – The focus is on the people
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Horsch Maschinen GmbH on 15th of May 2009, the managing directors Michael and
Philipp Horsch and Horst Keller as well as many other employees got special praise. One of the nicest compliments came from a
journalist: "Congratulations to the Horsch family! You have achieved an annual turnover of nearly 200 Mio EUR in a quarter of
a century and have still remained human – hats off!"
The celebration already started in the afternoon when the first machinery novelties for 2009/2010 were shown. Then the guests split up in two groups. About 100 journalists from all over the world were informed by Philipp and Cornelia Horsch about the current economic situation and the Horsch innovations of the next two to three years. At the same time, approx 250 Horsch importers from all over Europe and the United States met for an exchange of experiences.
In the evening, customers, suppliers, partners as well as guests from politics and business attended the anniversary celebration – in total about 800 guests. Company founder Michael Horsch and his brother Philipp made clear why the company was able to grow so rapidly over the last 25 years – because both of them have an unlimited passion for agriculture. Being the oldest of six siblings Michael Horsch went to the USA in 1979 after his journeyman's examination to have his own farm over there one day. But he had to return to Germany to do his non-military service. At the back of his mind he fiddled about direct seed drills. At the same time his uncle Helmut Horsch challenged him to further develop a new technology in growing maize under foil.
Within a few weeks Michael had developed the prototype and received follow-up jobs from the big family. Parallel to that the first direct seed drill came to life. For a long time the Sä-Exaktor (Seed Exactor) would be the bread and butter machine. In 1984 Michael Horsch, his father Dankwart and Walter Horsch founded the HORSCH Maschinen GmbH as chief partners. Walter and Michael Horsch became directors. Soon other products were developed: The Terra-Trac became an important mainstay of sales. With this three-wheel tractor, first designed as a self-propelled seeding machine, Horsch became more known. In France, Michael Horsch met his wife Cornelia - her father was one of the first Horsch clients.

The commitment and the willpower of every single employee made the growth of the company possible in the first place, says managing director Horst Keller. Like Michael Horsch he emphasized that despite the current tense economic situation no job within the company is at stake. This statement was met with great applause from the employees on the occasion of the family party on the next day. This event closed the official 25th anniversary celebration.
Anniversary book "Moment mal" (Just a moment)
On the occasion of the anniversary Horsch has published a book with the title "Moment mal" (Just a moment).

When thumbing through this “photo-album” you will soon realize how manifold these companions are and what all of them connects. Thumb through 25 years of exciting history and stories.
The Horsch anniversary book "Moment mal" (Just a moment) consists of 134 pages with numerous illustrations, is quadrilingual (German, English, French, Russian) and is available at a price of 29,90 Euro (recommended retail price).
