HORSCH Novelties 2010
For three of the machines it is the first presentation worldwide. Among them are the classic cultivator Terrano 5 FX with a completely new design, the Sprinter 8 SW (Sprinter seed drill for combined sowing and fertilizing with separate 8000 litres hopper) and the new Horsch Auger Waggon 34 UW.

In the year of the 25th company anniversary, Horsch Maschinen GmbH present themselves on the largest stand in the company’s history at the Agritechnica show in hall 11 – stand C21. On about 2000 m² 16 machines are shown – including eight seed drills and seven cultivators.

Express 3 TD – Pronto technology for three-point attachment
The Express TD is a compact 3-point seed drill for farms that due to their farmland/range of use cannot use a Pronto DC or a Sprinter ST to full capacity.
Its range of use is universal (after plough, mulch or direct sowing) and it disposes of the advantages of the Pronto system: cultivation, consolidation, sowing, pressing-down all in one pass. The hopper capacity is 1.500 l. A disc system for seedbed preparation and levelling is placed underneath the hopper. It corresponds to the Pronto DiscSystem.
The DiscSystem is followed by an all-over packer with wave profile that prepares the seedbed for the seed coulters in an optimal way.
The TurboDisc seed coulters are able to follow the soil surface precisely due to their high adaptability (up to 15 cm). Thus, all grains are placed regularly and exactly at the adjusted depth. Four rubber dampers/coulter transmit a coulter pressure of up to 80 kg and guarantee that the coulters run smoothly even at high speeds. The exact depth guidance of the coulters is made by the press wheels, they guarantee an optimal seed-soil-contact.

Pronto 12 DC - Universal seeding technology in a new dimension
Large farms all over the world still have a considerable need for powerful machine in large working widths. This need has already been covered successfully for several years by Horsch in the field of no-till and shallow cultivation together with Agro Soyuz in Eastern Europe and with Anderson in North America.
But those large farm have grown enormously also in the field of universal seed. The Pronto 12 DC combined with the Seed waggon SW 17.000 SD is the Horsch solution for more effectiveness and efficiency for these farm sizes. Moreover, the highly increasing average output of the tractrors in these regions require adequate machines to be able to work to capacity.
When designing the Pronto 12 DC, however, new paths have been striked. Unlike Pronto 3 to 9 DC seed waggon and seed unit are separated.
The Seed waggon SW 17.000 SD is a further step towards more effectiveness when sowing and fertilizing is combined. The separate seed waggon generally is designed for large working widths and high effectiveness in the East. The capacity of its double hopper is 17.000 l in total, divided in a 50:50 ratio for seed and fertilizer.
The real seed unit of the Pronto 12 DC is the well-known and proven Pronto system. The precise seed placement even on changing soils and high speeds is guaranteed by the principle cultivating-consolidating-sowing-pressing and is confirmed by agricultural practice. The Disc System for superficial cultivation is followed by 40 PPF coulters that always place the fertilizer exactly between 2 seed rows. Then the tyre packer (Ø 78 cm) and 80 TurboDisc seed coulters follow that are used in all Pronto seed drills and, with a flexible soil adjustment, provide a coulter pressure of up to 120 kg.
The complete weight of the Pronto 12 DC is carried by the tyre packer and the front chassis. There is no machinery load on the seed waggon.
Further Informations on the Pronto DC

Pronto 6 KR – Universal seeding technology with rotary harrow
Beside the well-proven Pronto KE Horsch introduces a further seed drill concept with integrated rotary cultivator – the Pronto KR. It can be universally used after plough and for mulch as well as on heaviest soils.
Unlike the Pronto KE the real seed unit and the seed waggon of the Pronto KR form a unit. Thus, it is very compact. Moreover, due to the missing axle of the seed waggon it transfers much weight to the rear axle of the tractor. Thus, a 6 m wide seed drill with rotary cultivator can be pulled with low horse power and low slip. The hopper content of the Pronto KR is 2.600 l. Its rotary cultivator with pto-gear draws itself into the soil and maintains the set depth constantly. The effective consolidation in front of each seed coulter is made by the new Horsch FarmFlex packer (also available for Joker RT and Terrano FX) or a Cracker steel roll. The precise seed placement is made by the TurboDisc coulters, its considerable soil adjustment and its high coulter pressure. As for all Horsch maschines working depths, coulter pressure, seed depth and quantity can be adjusted quickly. The DrillManager allows a constant control of all values while driving and can make modifications.

Terrano 5 FX – Universal cultivator technology with wide range of use
The classic cultivator Terrano 5 FX (with 3-point attachment or separate chassis) has been completely re-designed. The frame construction now is even more stable what allows for the use of more powerful tractors. Another highlight is the second generation of TerraGrip tines that first appeared in the new Tiger models at the Agritechnica 2007. The release force is 500 kg, the maximum power value is only 20 % higher than the release value. This protects the coulters and the frame. The design has been influenced by experiences made with more than 70.000 mounted tines of the first generation. The new TerraGrip tines will also be mounted on the Terrano 3 FX and 4 FX whose frame has been optimized further, too.
The HORSCH Terrano FX is a compact 3-bar cultivator with a wide range of use - whether for shallow stubble cultivation or intensive soil cultivation. The all-rounder Terrano FX mixes perfectly in all depths between 5 and 30 cm.
The HORSCH Terrano FX is so easy to pull that it doesn't even require a tractor to pull it in theory. It would only take a few Horsch employees to pull it, as we proved in the field in 2006. The DLG Focus test also certified that the Terrano FX is really easy to pull. On average, the other test candidates required 20% more diesel fuel than the Terrano FX - and that with top-quality working results for the Terrano FX.
These positive characteristics have, of course, been retained for the new versions.

Sprinter 8 SW
The Sprinter 8 SW is a robust, compact and versatile tine drill in 8 meter working width. The Duett coulter enables drilling and fertilising to be carried out at the same time as cultivating the soil and generating fine earth in the seed placement area. The Sprinter's tines remove crop residue effectively from the seed bed.
The Sprinter is highly effective due to the new large-capacity seed waggon 8.00 SW. The self-cleaning tyre packer and a harrow guarantee an optimal seed-soil-contact exactly behind every seed coulter.
The Sprinter's coulters are arranged in 3 rows, with a row spacing of 25 cm. They prepare the seed bed perfectly. The soil is loosened, levelled, mixed and broken up in the same way as with a cultivator coulter. The sturdy tines are each equipped with an overload protection device. The trip force of over 200 kg guarantees a constant coulter control. The Classic and MultiGrip tines can be combined with all types of coulter. The Duett coulter combines drilling with fertilising in one pass. The Horsch PPF fertilising system ensures optimum development of young plants. This in turn leads to quick root mass growth and optimises the structure of the roots.
The Sprinter 8 SW follows the tradition of the HORSCH Airseeders. Various improvements according to the HORSCH principles "faster, simpler, safer" increase its effectiveness compared to its successful predecessor.

Titan 34 UW
The new Horsch Auger Waggon stands for harvest efficiency in a new dimension.
It has inherited the genes of the first Horsch auger waggons and raises them to a completely new technical level – harvest efficiency in a new dimension. Due to the large hopper capacity of 34 m³ idle times on the field boundaries and awkward manoeuvring are part of the past. The hopper capacity of the Titan UW corresponds to one truckload. A truck is thus filled at one go. The output of the newly designed hydraulically foldable auger conveyor (ø 600 mm) is 18 tons per minute. Thus, 34 m³ are reloaded in only 90 seconds. The Titan 34 UW has a telescopic axle as standard equipment. It moves every tyre to the outside by 25 cm. This increases the width of the machine from 2,95 to 3,55 m. Thus, stability is increased and soil pressure reduced as the tyres of the auger waggon do not run in the tractor tracks. Another soil-saving means are the large-dimensioned tyres (900/60 R32). Moreover, there are an integrated weighing system, a pneumatic (and hydraulic) brake system and a clearly visible display of the opening situation of the auger conveyor slider.
Matthias Rietsch, Betriebsgemeinschaft Schackenthal KG:
We succeeded in using the new Horsch Auger Waggon to ist full capacity. With our two large combines (60t/h) we were able to bring 100 tons of cereals to the field boundaries for further transport in one hour with only 4 trips. In our opinion this is due to the low horse power requirement and the enormous output of the auger conveyor.

New equipment details – FarmFlex packer

At the Agritechnica, HORSCH also shows new equipment details for existing types of machines. Among them is for example the new FarmFlex packer.
The diameter of the rubber roll is 590 mm. Even on light and middle soils, the FarmFlex consolidates in an optimal way. The power demand is low and is resistent to stones. Beside the Joker RT the FarmFlex is also available for the Terrano FX in 5, 6 and 8 m working width.
